About the Studio

Perennial Design Studio was founded in Providence, Rhode Island in the spring of 2024 by Elliott Rosenberg. An Interdisciplinary designer currently living in Brooklyn, Rosenberg fell in love with the immense wisdom of the natural world from a young age, growing up in the redwood trees in northern California. He built a deep passion for design and making through countless hours in the woodshop, and went on to study Furniture Design, Materials Engineering, and Computer Science at the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University.

The namesake of the furniture, home goods, and lighting studio - Perennial - comes from embracing the qualities of objects that are timeless and enduring. Perennial was born out of a desire to serve the simple things that we engage with on a daily basis, and to ensure that the tools facilitating our lives are well made, thoughtfully designed, and imbued with integrity. Moreover, Perennial looks toward the plants, flowers, herbs, bushes, and trees of the natural world as our teachers, cairns, and facilitators of lifelong learning. The objects we make are humble in posture, expertly crafted, and rational in nature.

CORE QUALITY

Understated Presence

A small footprint invites us to take a deeper look, standing out by blending in. Small objects invite an honest and legible relationship between person and thing.

CORE QUALITY

Enduring Materiality

Materials hold stories, memories, and potential. They age with grace, grow in character, and become more beautiful through use. Endurance is not just a function of durability but of the richness that comes with time.

CORE QUALITY

Intuitive Design

Design is the act of removing all the superfluous elements that distract an object from it's purpose. The most successful objects serve to make a legible argument as to how they should contribute to their environment.
